Lots of fun stuff happened last week, and I’d like to take a
few minutes to update you on the goings-on here at “Since You Asked”.
My friends, Shannon and Tobin, are currently in Ghana
getting acquainted with their amazing little boy, Elijah! (Finally!) After following them on their adoption
journey these past months, it is so heartwarming to see pictures of them
snuggling and playing with their little guy.
While they will need to return stateside shortly, sans Eli, they have
completed a very important leg of their journey and are oh-so-close to bringing
that little guy home. I, personally,
cannot wait to see him at local functions such as Joplin High School football
games!
Thursday night’s Art Walk was another great success as the
streets were lined with area residents enjoying the evening’s festivities and
pleasant weather. My son ventured down
to Instant Karma and was amazed by how packed the restaurant was! Hooray for Jason and Suzanne – I wish them
much continued success with their innovative and fun restaurant.
Art Feeds continues to seek sponsors for next year’s art
programs here in Joplin. For those of
you who are interested in helping this organization provide art therapy to
children, please visit my fundraising page where you can make a secure donation
to help cover the cost of supplies that will give kids the opportunity to
express themselves through their creativity.
Just $38 provides all the supplies Art Feeds will need for one child for
an entire year.
Students, staff, alumni, and members of the University of
Missouri football team visited Joplin to work on Habitat for Humanity homes. Their efforts are part of the
Governor’s Joplin Challenge, whose mission is for seven of Missouri’s athletic
teams to build thirty-five homes in Joplin during 2012. Other teams involved in the Challenge are the
Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, the St. Louis Cardinals, the St.
Louis Rams, the St. Louis Blues, and the Kansas Speedway.
So, what fun stuff went on in YOUR neck of the woods? If you live in the Joplin area, did you have
an opportunity to participate in any of these events?
Don’t forget to visit my Art Feeds Fundraising Page and make a donation! You only have until July 29!
