Participation, or Practice (take your pick!)

Today is “P” day, and I am out Participating in an event being held in my community to help tornado victims.  I was invited to attend a corporate sponsored event to help with our local rebuilding efforts, and am excited to share with you all the great things that happen, but first they must happen.  And then I must record them.  And, lastly, I must share them with all of you.  Yay!  It’s going to be a fun day!

So, I want to encourage all of you to get out and PARTICIPATE in your communities.  Volunteer, shop, play, enjoy.  Whatever you choose to do, go do it.  You and your community will both benefit.

Also, I am PRACTICING for tomorrow night.  I’m playing this month’s Third Thursday, yo!  If you live in the area, be sure and stop by the new coffee house at 504 Joplin and say, “hi!”  Not that I’m all that good or anything, but you guys know I’m a true wannabe musician.  The folks that organize the monthly Art Walks are kind enough to humor me and let me play one on T.V. (or something like that….)

See you soon!

What are some fun things in your community that you like to participate in?  Do you do any volunteer work?  Do you play an instrument?

  1. At times, I think participating could be the process of practicing itself. Good post!

    1. You know, Heather, I believe you are right! When I practice for the Art Walk, I am participating in a community event, thereby helping promote art and commerce in our city. LOL - see how it easy to make these connections! :-)

    1. Betty,I am looking forward to it! It's always so much fun to be out and about in our beautiful downtown, surrounded by so much talent. Hopefully some of that talent will eventually rub off on me!

    1. Lynn, what rewarding volunteer efforts! I love it that your church does a coffee house! The first time I participated in one was when I was a freshman in college and I took it waaaayyy too seriously. Now I just try and relax (well, OK, I have a beer beforehand), and enjoy the atmosphere. It's so much fun and I really love being among all the other (much more) talented artists. I'll have to see if someday someone will get a video worthy of reproducing on here (sometimes it's better to maintain a little mystery, tho....) Oh, and I probably look like Mary Chapin Carpenter because of the editing I did to the picture to make it look more artsy! (Hooray for Instagram!)
