Who Will Stand Up For Lolita?

Today I wrote a post over at BlogHer about something that happened here in our town that made me pretty angry.  Yes, I got up on my pedestal.  If you get a moment, head over and check it out.  But, be warned: I didn't sugarcoat anything or hold anything back.  Monday I'll climb back down from my pedestal and return to more normal posts around here.  However, just 'cause I stepped down doesn't mean I'm not still angry. :-)  Have a great weekend!

  1. I went over and read your post. How awful! Now I'm angry, too!

    1. Sherry, thank you so much for reading! I just wanted the family to know more people support them than they know. I also wanted to point out that while we were all busy being indignant toward those in charge at Penn State, we need to remember to be angry at those who exhibit the same behavior in our own hometowns. Again, students are NEVER to blame when something like this happens, and I will not sit by and let anyone try to place any of the responsibility on them. If kids don't know we support them, they will never feel they can trust us enough to tell us when they are in danger. There, I'm finished (for now...). Again, thanks so much for reading :-)

  2. I read the post. Lot's of problems like this in the news lately in Los Angeles where I live. I think a lot of this is indicative of a much broader societal problem in our nation. Anything goes under the guise of freedom of speech and liberal thinking has created a lot of misguided thinking on behalf of many across the strata of our society. There's plenty of blame to be passed around.

    1. Hi, Lee. Always great to see you over here! I agree - we are seeing far too much of these situations happening. Maybe kids and parents are getting braver (I hope!), but we need to keep supporting these families instead of tearing them down for exposing someone we once respected and admired. Thanks again for taking the time to read the post!
