Art Feeds Website Launch Party

The always awesome Art Feeds crew with Van Gogh

As you may have noticed, this blog is forever evolving. Essentially what I’m trying to do here is provide information about different ways we can make the world a better place, and one way of doing this is to celebrate the many incredible people in Joplin who use their talents to help others.

That’s why I’ve joined forces with Art Feeds. In case you don’t know about Meg, Marissa, and Brooke, these three young women work to provide an outlet for helping kids express themselves through art: music, writing, painting, drawing, performing – you name it. They work with special needs kids, kids in after-school programs, and, most recently, kids affected by the tornado (which, of course, is just about every kid in Joplin, so this year their work load has increased tremendously). Actually, rather than having me explain Art Feeds to you, why don’t you check out their brand-new website here. And by “check it out” I mean really explore the new site – find out who they are, what their mission is, how you can get involved, and – if you are so moved – how you can donate to their programs.

Some of the amazing food provided by the Eagle Drive In
and Eat Your Heart Out Bakery
Why am I sending you directly to their website? Because it’s brand new, and I just attended their launch party on Sunday night at the Eagle Drive-in. (OK, time for a shameless plug here. If you haven’t been to the Eagle Drive-in on South Main in Joplin since Jason and Suzanne Miller bought it, you really need to stop by there for lunch or dinner sometime. Seriously, they served lamb and bison sliders at the party. How great is that?) Anyway, the launch party was fantastic – they had computers set up so you could check out the new site yourself, music by Kevin Cott, and those in attendance could tour the awesome new mobile art center donated by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Oh, and the best part? Since Meg, Marissa, and Brooke are all pretty artsy (I know, duh), and their mission is to celebrate art and how it can provide a much-needed therapeutic outlet for kids, pretty much everyone in attendance was pretty artsy, too.
All the cool people....
So, basically I just hung out pretending to be as artsy as they are. Which, of course, made me feel uber-cool. Also, Art Feeds is going to feature me as a blog sponsor. Which means occasional free stuff for you guys and up-to-the-minute news about all the exciting activities the ultra creative staff over at Art Feeds is cooking up for Joplin’s kids.

So, wake the kids and phone the neighbors. Art Feeds is coming to “Since You Asked…”, and you and your friends won’t want to miss out on all the coolness that will be going on around here.

And make sure you join my site so you don't miss a minute of all this excitement!
